Every Belgian professional football club has included provisions on offensive and discriminatory chants in its Internal Rules of Procedure. A violation of this article bars football fans from the stadium for a certain period of time. Kazerne Dossin offers these people a learning opportunity, consisting of a guided visit, framed by one’s own margin of action and mechanisms behind group dynamics, and a reflection report. The visit gives the opportunity to gain insights into inappropriate behaviour as well as tools for the future. If people are willing to self-reflect, they can be readmitted to the football stadium.
With this proposal, Kazerne Dossin, in collaboration with Pro League, offers a constructive response to racist and discriminatory actions in the context of professional football.
